Vowel Sounds and Word Stress Worksheet
How to say it (Short vowel ≠ long vowel: ship / sheep, full / fool): Short vs long vowels change meaning: ship (शिप) / sheep (शीप), full (फुल) / fool (फ़ूल), live / leave, sit / seat. Stretch the long one. Every long word has one strong (stressed) part: PHOto, TEAcher, toMORrow, comPUter. Say it a little louder and longer. Stress can move in related words: PHOtograph → phoTOgraphy → photoGRAPHic. Use 'an' before a vowel SOUND, 'a' before a consonant sound: an hour, an MBA, a university, a one-rupee coin.
