  1. 1.The waves come running up the sand,
They tickle toes and touch my hand.
They leave behind a shell or two,
Some pink, some white, and one bright blue.
The fishing boats go out at dawn,
And come back home when day is gone.
The seagulls cry, the breezes blow,
I wish I never had to go.

    What colours are the shells?
    (a) Pink, white and blue (b) Black and grey (c) Only white (d) Red, green and gold
  2. 2.Mangroves are trees that grow in salty water along the coast. Their roots stick out of the mud like knobbly fingers. These roots help the trees breathe in wet, airless soil. Mangrove forests protect the coast from strong waves and storms. They also give shelter to fish, crabs and birds. The Sundarbans, shared by India and Bangladesh, is the largest mangrove forest in the world. It is home to the Royal Bengal tiger. Cutting mangroves leaves the coast open to damage.

What do mangrove roots look like?
    (a) Flat plates (b) Thin needles (c) Knobbly fingers (d) Long ropes
  3. 3.The Sun heats water in seas, rivers and lakes. The water turns into an invisible gas called water vapour. This change is called evaporation. High in the sky, the vapour cools and turns into tiny drops of water. These drops join together to form clouds. When the drops become too heavy, they fall as rain. This is called precipitation. Rainwater flows back into rivers and seas, and the cycle begins again.

What heats the water in seas and rivers?
    (a) The clouds (b) The Sun (c) The Moon (d) The wind
  4. 4.Vihaan was batting in the final over of the colony cricket match. He edged the ball, and it brushed his bat before the keeper caught it. Nobody else heard the sound, and the umpire said not out. Vihaan’s team needed just four runs to win. Still, Vihaan walked off the field on his own. The other team was stunned. They lost the match, but players from both sides shook his hand. Vihaan felt that fair play mattered more than a trophy.

Why did Vihaan walk off the field?
    (a) It began to rain (b) He was tired (c) He was hurt (d) He knew he was out
  5. 5.Bees visit flowers to collect sweet nectar. While they feed, yellow dust called pollen sticks to their hairy bodies. When a bee flies to the next flower, some pollen rubs off. This carrying of pollen is called pollination. Pollination helps plants make fruits and seeds. Mangoes, apples and many vegetables depend on it. Without bees, farmers would harvest far less food. So bees are tiny helpers of every farm.

What does pollination help plants make?
    (a) Leaves and thorns (b) Roots and stems (c) Bark and wood (d) Fruits and seeds
  6. 6.The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite. It goes around the Earth once in about a month. The Moon does not have its own light. It shines because it reflects light from the Sun. And count the stars that shine for free.
