Artist's tip (Far looks small): Near = bigger, lower, more detail, overlapping. Far = smaller, near the horizon, paler, partly hidden. The horizon line is at eye level; parallel lines meet at a vanishing point on it. Foreground (nearest), middle ground, background (farthest). Rule of thirds: 2 lines across and 2 down make 9 boxes — put the subject where lines cross.
