To make a picture look deep, remember: things far away look smaller, paler and less detailed, and sit nearer the horizon line, which is at eye level. Near things look bigger, lower and clearer, and overlap things behind them. Railway tracks seem to meet at a vanishing point. Plan the picture with a foreground, middle ground and background, and place the main subject on a rule-of-thirds line.
