How to say it (can / could / should / must / may / might + base verb): Ability: can (सकता हूँ), past ability: could (सकता था) — I can swim. I could ride a cycle at six. Advice: should (चाहिए) — You should rest. Duty / rule: must or have to (करना ही है / पड़ता है). Permission: can / may (May I…? is more formal). Chance: might / may (शायद) — It might rain. Always base verb after them, no -s, no 'to': She can sing. (not 'can sings' / 'can to sing')
