How to say it (Excuse me + could you…, please?): Start a request with 'Excuse me' and end with 'please': Excuse me, could you move a little, please? (माफ़ कीजिए, थोड़ा खिसकेंगे?) Say 'Sorry' for small mistakes and 'Thank you' for any help — to a guard, a driver or a shopkeeper too. Signs use short commands: No + noun/-ing (No parking), Keep + direction (Keep left), Do not + verb (Do not touch). In a queue ask 'Is this the line for…?' and say 'After you' to let someone go first (पहले आप).
