How to say it (verb-ed / 2nd form · did + base verb · was / were + verb-ing): Regular verbs add -ed: work → worked, play → played. Irregular change: go → went, eat → ate, buy → bought. Questions and 'not' use did + base verb: Did you go? I didn't go. (went नहीं, go) was (I / he / she / it) and were (you / we / they): I was tired. They were late. (था / थे) In progress in the past: was / were + verb-ing — I was sleeping when you called. (सो रहा था)
