The method (Place decides value): Three-digit number: hundreds, tens, ones from the left. Value of a digit = digit × 100, × 10 or × 1 by its place. Expanded form: 462 = 400 + 60 + 2. 10 more or 100 more changes only the tens or the hundreds digit (unless it passes 9).
