The method (Biggest fit, then leftover): Find the biggest number in the table that is not more than the total: that gives the quotient. Remainder = total − (quotient × divisor). The remainder must be smaller than the divisor. If everyone must fit (boats, autos), use one more than the full groups when there is a remainder.
