Speaker's tip (Compare, change or share?): Bar chart: comparing separate amounts, like rainfall in four cities or the heights of four plants. Line chart: one thing changing over time. Pie chart: what share of one whole each part is (all slices make 100%). Reading charts: “how many more” = subtract; “in all” = add; the missing pie slice = 100 − the others. Every chart needs a clear title and labels.
