Lesson 3
Generative AI
How AI creates text, images, and code - and where it can go wrong
1What Is Generative AI?✨
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new content, like stories, pictures, or computer code. Think of it like a digital artist or writer that learns from lots of examples. Just like a chef who mixes ingredients to create a dish, generative AI combines information to make something new.
Large Language Models (LLMs)Large Language Models are a special kind of generative AI that focuses on understanding and producing text. Imagine a giant library filled with books. An LLM reads and learns from all these books, allowing it to answer questions or write essays based on what it has learned.
2How ChatGPT Works at a High Level🎯
ChatGPT is an example of an LLM. It processes text by predicting the next word in a sentence based on what it has seen before. You can think of it like a game of "fill in the blanks." When you ask it a question, it quickly fills in the blanks to create a response that makes sense.
3Text, Image, and Code Generation💡
4Generative AI can create different types of content:🚀
- ✓ Text: Writing stories, poems, or essays.
- ✓ Images: Creating art or designing graphics.
- ✓ Code: Writing simple programs or scripts.
For example, if you ask an AI to write a short program that adds two numbers, it might look like this:
5```python🔍
def add_numbers(a, b):
return a + b
```6AI Assistants⭐
AI assistants, like ChatGPT, can help with various tasks. They can answer questions, suggest ideas, or even help with homework. Think of them as friendly robots that are always ready to lend a hand!
7AI Limitations and Hallucinations🧩
Despite their abilities, AI has limitations. Sometimes, it may generate incorrect or nonsensical information, known as hallucinations. Imagine asking a friend for a fact, and they make up something silly. Always double-check important information from AI!
8Responsible AI Use🎈
Using AI responsibly is essential. This means being honest about when you're using AI, not copying its work without credit, and understanding its limitations. Remember, AI is a tool to assist you, not a replacement for your creativity and critical thinking!
