Lesson 5
AI Agents
AI that can plan, use tools, and complete multi-step tasks on its own
1What Is An AI Agent?✨
An AI agent is a computer program that can act independently to complete tasks. Think of it like a virtual assistant that can make decisions based on information it has. Just like a real assistant, an AI agent can help with various jobs, from answering questions to controlling robots.
2Agent Vs Chatbot🎯
While both AI agents and chatbots can interact with users, they serve different purposes. A chatbot is like a friendly customer service representative that answers questions, but an AI agent can plan and execute tasks on its own. For example, if you ask a chatbot for the weather, it will simply provide the answer. An AI agent, however, could plan a trip by checking flights, hotels, and activities.
3Tools An Agent Can Use💡
AI agents can use various tools to complete tasks. These tools might include software applications or even physical devices. Imagine a robot in a factory that uses tools like a screwdriver or a computer program that uses a calendar app to schedule meetings.
4Planning🚀
Planning is how an AI agent decides what steps to take to achieve a goal. For instance, if the goal is to bake a cake, the agent will plan out the steps: gather ingredients, mix them, bake, and finally decorate.
5Memory🔍
Memory helps an AI agent remember past experiences to make better decisions in the future. Just like you remember what ingredients you used in a recipe, an AI agent can store information about what worked well before.
6Reasoning⭐
Reasoning is how an AI agent figures out the best way to solve a problem. It's like when you have to decide whether to wear a jacket based on the weather. An AI agent uses data and logic to make similar decisions.
7Tool Calling🧩
Tool calling is when an AI agent uses specific tools to perform tasks. For example, if an agent needs to check the weather, it might call a weather API to get real-time data.
8Multi-Step Tasks🎈
Multi-step tasks are activities that require several actions to complete. For example, organizing a school event involves planning the date, booking a venue, and inviting guests. An AI agent can handle all these steps.
9Agentic Workflows✨
Agentic workflows are the series of steps an AI agent follows to complete a task. Think of it as a recipe: each step must be followed in order to create the final dish.
10Real-World Agent Examples🎯
Real-world examples of AI agents include personal assistants like Siri and Google Assistant, or robots used in warehouses to sort and deliver packages. These agents plan, use tools, and complete tasks independently.
