Badminton is a fast sport played with a shuttlecock and a racket, as singles (one player each side) or doubles (two players each side). 💡 Key Learning Points
- ✓The forehand grip is a relaxed handshake grip; the backhand grip places the base of the thumb against the back of the handle.
- ✓Chassé footwork helps you reach the shuttlecock quickly while staying balanced.
- ✓Low serves just clear the net; the forehand high serve sends the shuttle high and deep.
- ✓Lifts and clears send the shuttle to the back of the court, drives are fast flat attacking shots, and drops land close to the net.
- ✓In the class match, the first player to five points wins and the rally winner serves next.
👨🏫 Teaching Tips
- →Demonstrate the handshake grip and let students check each other's thumb and index-finger positions.
- →Use plastic shuttlecocks and short five-tap rallies before any court play.
- →Set up the six-bucket footwork drill and time each student.
- →Mark an arch near the short service line with markers for low-serve accuracy practice.
- →Draw target circles in the back court for lifts and clears and award 5 or 1 points.
- →Explain rally scoring with a short five-point match and let students keep score.
- →Give the court-marking and rules research task as homework.
📋 Assessment Questions
