Two angles that add up to 90° are complementary; two that add up to 180° are supplementary. When two lines cross, the angles opposite each other are equal (vertically opposite angles) and the angles next to each other on a line add up to 180°. When a line cuts two parallel lines, corresponding angles and alternate interior angles are equal, and the interior angles on the same side add up to 180°.
