Bees Are Busy Helpers

Class 3 · Worksheet 2
Name:Date:Score:    / 7

Honeybees live together in a home called a hive. A hive can have thousands of bees. One big bee, the queen, lays the eggs. The worker bees do all the other jobs.

Worker bees fly from flower to flower to collect a sweet juice called nectar. Back in the hive, they turn the nectar into honey. While they visit flowers, bees also carry pollen from one flower to another. This helps plants make fruits and seeds.

Without bees, we would have fewer fruits and vegetables. That is why we must protect bees and plant more flowers.

Read the passage and answer the questions.

  1. What is the home of honeybees called?
  2. What is the job of the queen bee?
  3. What is nectar?
  4. How do bees help plants?
  5. Why must we protect bees?
  6. Find a word that means “very many” in the first paragraph.
