Before a decision, list the pros (good points) and cons (bad points). Walking to school: free exercise and fresh air, but it takes more time and is tiring in the rain. Not all points are equal — one big con can outweigh many small pros. For bigger choices, score each option out of 5 for what matters and add the scores.
See both sides — “list the pros and cons, then add up the scores”
Pro = a good point of a choice; con = a bad point. Pet dog: a loyal friend (pro); vet visits cost money (con).
Decision table: score each option out of 5 for each need and add the row. Lake: fun 5 + shade 1 + nearness 5 = 11.
Weigh how big each point is — safety matters more than a small saving.
Use it for: Choosing a hobby, a class trip, a gift, a project topic or how to spend pocket money.
Worked example: 🧺 Your class scores three picnic spots out of 5 (more points = better). Lake: fun 5, shade 1, nearness 5. Park: fun 2, shade 3, nearness 3. Farm: fun 3, shade 3, nearness 1. Which picnic spot has the highest total? → lake
Add each row: lake 5 + 1 + 5 = 11, park 2 + 3 + 3 = 8, farm 3 + 3 + 1 = 7.
11 is the highest, so the lake wins.
