Integers are the whole numbers with their negatives: … −3, −2, −1, 0, 1, 2, 3 … On a number line, numbers get bigger to the right, so −3 is bigger than −8. Temperatures below zero, money owed and depths below sea level are all negative numbers. This lesson also practises Roman numerals: I = 1, V = 5, X = 10, L = 50, C = 100, D = 500 and M = 1000.

Use it for: Temperatures in winter, bank balances, lifts going below the ground floor, clock faces and chapter numbers, and the integers chapter of Class 6 maths.
