A memory-friendly revision timetable — Memory techniques for students
A memory-friendly revision timetable starts weeks early, mixes subjects each day and brings old topics back again and again, with spare days for doubts and time for sleep. Start from the exam date: count the days, give each chapter its learning days, and keep the rest for spaced reviews and self-tests.
Plan the reviews, not just the reading — “a timetable that brings every topic back before the exam”
Good: starts weeks early, mixes subjects each day, old topics come back, spare days for doubts, sleep time kept.
Poor: starts the night before, one subject all week, no time for review, late nights every day.
Revision days = days to the exam − learning days: 17 days, 5 chapters × 3 days = 15 → 2 days left for revision.
Use it for: Unit tests, half-yearly and final exams, olympiads and board exams.
Worked example: 🗓️ Your exam is in 17 days. You have 5 chapters and need 3 days to learn each one. The other days are for revision. How many revision days do you get? → 2
Days to learn: 5 × 3 = 15 days.
Revision days: 17 − 15 = 2.
Check: Try it: make a two-week timetable for your next test with at least three review days for every chapter ✓
Work it out in your head or on paper, type the answer and press Check. Stuck? Press “Show me how”.
