Each art material behaves differently. Watercolour is see-through and mixed with water; poster colour is thick and opaque; wax crayons are hard and waxy; oil pastels are soft and creamy and blend with a finger. Pencils have grades: H pencils are hard and light, B pencils are soft and dark, and HB is in the middle — so 2B is softer and darker than HB.
✓ You passed this lesson’s test.
Right tool, right job — “see-through, solid, waxy or creamy — and B for black, H for hard”
Use it for: Choosing materials for a school chart, a sketch or a painting, and buying the right pencil.
Check: Sketch outlines with HB, shade the dark parts with 2B ✓
