What will my child learn about art?

Art is more than drawing nicely — it is a set of ideas every artist uses. Children learn how paint colours mix (red + yellow = orange, blue + yellow = green, red + blue = purple), how the colour wheel works, which colours feel warm or cool and which are complementary. They learn the elements of art — line, shape, form, colour, texture, space and value — how to shade, how to make things look near or far, which paints and pencils to use and how to care for brushes. Part 3 explores Indian folk art (Warli, Madhubani, Gond, Kalamkari, Pattachitra and rangoli), symmetry in mandalas, kinds of paintings, and digital art: pixels, layers, undo and why screens mix colours differently from paint. Every lesson has a short method, a worked example, practice and a 20-question test; the hands-on side comes from the free drawing worksheets (https://talentjr.in/drawing-worksheets) and colouring worksheets (https://talentjr.in/colouring-worksheets).

Art & Painting for Kids questions

What is this art course for kids?

A free online course with 24 short lessons on colour, drawing and painting basics, Indian folk art and digital art. Each lesson explains one idea with a worked example, then gives fresh practice questions and a 20-question test. It teaches the “why” of art — how colours mix, how shading and perspective work — so your child’s drawings and paintings improve.

Bachchon ko drawing aur painting kaise sikhayein? (Hindi)

What age is this art course for?

Ages 6 to 14. Younger children can do Part 1 (colours) with a parent reading the questions aloud; older children enjoy the shading, perspective, folk art and digital art lessons in Parts 2 and 3.

Where can my child practise drawing and colouring on paper?

Use our free printable drawing worksheets (https://talentjr.in/drawing-worksheets) and colouring worksheets (https://talentjr.in/colouring-worksheets). This course teaches the ideas; the worksheets give hands-on practice with pencils, crayons and paints.

What is the colour wheel, and what are primary and secondary colours?

In paint, the primary colours are red, yellow and blue. Mixing two of them makes a secondary colour: red + yellow = orange, blue + yellow = green, red + blue = purple. The colour wheel puts these in a circle with the six tertiary colours between them; colours opposite each other are complementary.

Does the course teach Warli and Madhubani painting?

Yes. Lesson 17 covers Warli art (Maharashtra), Madhubani painting (Bihar), Gond art (Madhya Pradesh), Kalamkari (Andhra Pradesh), Pattachitra (Odisha) and rangoli — their typical features and home states. Lesson 18 adds mandala and rangoli patterns and symmetry.

Which materials does my child need?

None for the lessons — every question works in the browser. For practice on paper, a pencil (HB and 2B), an eraser, wax crayons or oil pastels, and a small set of watercolours or poster colours with a round and a flat brush are plenty.

How do I get a certificate?

Sign in and pass the 20-question test of a lesson (16 or more right) to earn its badge. Pass every lesson of a part — Part 1 is lessons 1–8, Part 2 is 9–16, Part 3 is 17–24 — and you get that part’s certificate, with a code anyone can check.

Is this art course free?

Yes. All 24 lessons, practice, tests, worksheets, badges and certificates are free. Live art classes with a TalentJR teacher (online or at home) are paid — request a call back for fees.
