Checkmate in one — not stalemate!

Your move

💡 Need a hint?

Make sure your move gives check. A move that only takes away every square, without check, is stalemate.

What you learn here

Stalemate means the player to move is not in check but has no legal move. The game is a draw! When you are winning, always leave the king a square — or give checkmate.
