A notice tells many people about an event at once — on a school board or in a housing society. It is short and must contain a fixed set of parts so nobody misses a detail.
What, when, where — “a notice gives the event, the date and time, and the place”
Parts: the name of the school or society, the word NOTICE, the date, a title, the details, the writer’s name and designation.
The details must say WHAT is happening, WHEN (date and time) and WHERE (the place).
Keep it short and clear; sign with your name and post (Sports Captain, Secretary …).
Use it for: Notice writing in Class 5–8 English exams, and real notices for clubs and events.
Worked example: This notice leaves out an important detail. What is missing? → when (date and time)
The notice: Lotus Vidyalaya · NOTICE · 1 August 2026 · Drawing Competition · A drawing competition will be held in the art room. All are welcome. · Ishaan · Secretary, Art Club
It says what (a drawing competition) and where (in the art room), but not when.
Check: Add “on 8 August at 10 am” and the notice is complete ✓
Read every choice carefully, then tap the one that is written correctly. Stuck? Press “Show me how”.
