What is English grammar?

Grammar is the set of rules that tells us how words fit together into correct sentences: which word is a noun or a verb, when to say “is” and when “are”, “a” or “an”, “went” or “goed”, “since” or “for”. Good grammar makes your writing clear, your marks better and your spoken English confident. This free course follows the order most schools teach it, from Class 2 to Class 10: Part 1 (ages 7–10) covers the basics — nouns, plurals, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, articles, is/am/are, prepositions, conjunctions and punctuation; Part 2 (ages 9–13) covers every tense and subject–verb agreement; Part 3 (ages 12–16) covers degrees of comparison, adverbs, modals, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, question tags, conditionals, relative pronouns, and gerunds and infinitives. Every lesson explains the rule in plain words, works an example, and gives unlimited practice with “Show me how”, a 20-question test, a badge and printable worksheets with answers.
