Every time a tooth of the driver passes, one tooth of the driven gear passes too. So teeth × turns is the same for both gears. A 10-tooth driver turning 6 times pushes 10 × 6 = 60 teeth; a 30-tooth driven gear needs 30 teeth for each turn, so it turns 60 ÷ 30 = 2 times. The gear ratio is driven teeth ÷ driver teeth: 30 ÷ 10 = 3, so the driven gear turns 3 times slower (and is stronger).
