Communication tip

Listen to understand — “focus, ask, wait, check and care”

  1. Find the topic: listening, questions, turns, paraphrasing or feelings.
  2. Use that lesson’s tip: stop, look, listen, ask; open for more, closed for facts; wait for a pause; say it back; name the feeling.
  3. For talking-time sums: share equally = minutes ÷ children; time left = total − time used.

Use it for: Revision after Part 2, before the speaking and body language lessons.

Worked example: 🔁 What is paraphrasing? → saying it in your words

  1. Paraphrasing keeps the meaning but uses new words.
  2. So it is saying it in your words.

Check: Try it: for one day, before you reply to anyone, say back the main point you heard ✓
