What is public speaking?

Public speaking is talking clearly and confidently to a group — in class, in morning assembly, in a debate, on Annual Day or in a presentation. It is a skill, not a gift: anyone can learn it. This free course teaches how to give a speech in three parts. Part 1, speaking basics: beating stage fear, volume and pace, pauses and pitch, body language, eye contact, clear pronunciation and choosing formal or informal words for your audience. Part 2, building a speech: purpose (inform, persuade or entertain), opening hooks, the opening–body–closing structure, signposting phrases, examples and stories, memorable endings and timing in words per minute. Part 3, presentation skills for students: clear slides, the right chart, rehearsing, handling questions, school assembly speech topics, the welcome speech and vote of thanks, and an anchoring script for a school event. The quizzes check that you know the right choices; every lesson also tells you exactly what to practise aloud, because real speaking skill grows only by speaking.

Public Speaking & Presentation Skills questions

How can kids learn public speaking?

Public speaking is a skill that grows with practice. Learn the basics — breathing, voice, body language and eye contact — then how to build a speech with a hook, 2 or 3 points and a strong ending. Practise aloud a little every day: read to your family, give a 1-minute talk on any topic and take every chance to speak in class and assembly.

Public speaking ka dar kaise khatam kare? (Hindi)

What age is this public speaking course for?

Ages 9 to 18 — roughly Class 4 to Class 12. Younger children can do Part 1 with a parent reading the questions aloud; teenagers get the most from Parts 2 and 3 (speech structure, timing, slides, charts, anchoring and the vote of thanks).

How do I give a speech in school?

Pick your purpose (inform, persuade or entertain), open with a question, a short story or a surprising fact, give 2 or 3 points with examples, use signposts like “Firstly” and “To sum up”, and end with a call to action and “Thank you”. Time it: at about 130 words a minute, a 2-minute speech is about 260 words.

What are good speech topics for students?

Choose a topic you care about and can explain with your own examples: saving water, saying no to plastic, why teachers matter, the joys of childhood, what freedom means to me, a funny family moment or a book you loved. Match it to the day — Independence Day, Republic Day, Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day or World Environment Day.

How do I write an anchoring script for a school function?

Get the running order first. Write one welcome line, then for every item an introduction (“Next, Class 4 presents a folk dance”) and a thank-you line (“Let’s give them a big round of applause”). Add lines to invite guests, and close with the vote of thanks and “Please stand for the National Anthem”. Lesson 23 has the full pattern.

Can my child really learn speaking from quizzes?

The quizzes teach the knowledge and the right choices — which voice, which opening, which chart, what to say. Real skill comes from speaking, so every lesson has a short “Practise aloud” task and 🔊 buttons that read words and lines aloud. Do the task each time, ideally in front of a family member.

How do I get a certificate?

Sign in and pass the 20-question test of a lesson (16 or more right) to earn its badge. Pass every lesson of a part — Part 1 is lessons 1–8, Part 2 is 9–16, Part 3 is 17–24 — and you get that part’s certificate, with a code anyone can check.

Is this public speaking course free?
