Bird Feeder from a Plastic Bottle (Kids Craft)
Make a bird feeder from a plastic bottle and two wooden spoons, hang it on the balcony and watch sparrows and mynas visit — a best out of waste nature craft.
What your bird feeder from a bottle can look like
Materials 1 plastic bottle (1 litre) with its cap, washed and dried 2 wooden spoons or straight sticks for perches Strong string Bird grains: bajra, broken rice or millet A shallow bowl for water
Tools An adult to make all the holes A paper cone (funnel) for filling
Steps
Wash and dry the bottle inside and out. Ask an adult to make two small holes on opposite sides, about 5 cm from the bottom, and push a spoon or stick through as a perch. Ask an adult to make a second pair of holes higher up, at right angles to the first, for the second perch. Ask an adult to make a small feeding hole just above each perch, a little bigger than a grain. Roll paper into a cone and pour grains into the bottle. Close the cap. Tie string around the neck and hang the feeder in shade, from a branch or balcony, where cats cannot reach. Keep a shallow bowl of clean water nearby, especially in summer. Clean and refill it every week and note which birds visit.
⚠️ Safety note Only an adult cuts or makes holes in plastic. Feed only plain grains — no salty, spicy or cooked food — and wash hands after cleaning the feeder.
