Writing tip

I, today, feelings — “a diary entry is in the first person and the past tense, and shares feelings”

  1. Order: the day and date → the time → “Dear Diary,” → the entry → your name.
  2. Write as “I”, in the past tense: Today I went to a wedding.
  3. Share your feelings, not only facts: I felt so proud of myself.

Use it for: Diary entry questions in Class 5–8 exams, and keeping your own diary.

Worked example: Kabir is writing his diary about today. Which sentence fits best? → Today I went to a wedding.

  1. A diary entry is written by me (I) about what already happened today — first person, past tense.
  2. Not tomorrow, not every day, not “you”: Today I went to a wedding.

Check: “Today” + “I” + “went” (past) ✓
