How to work it out

Find 1% first — “1% of a number is that number ÷ 100”

  1. Find 1%: divide the number by 100 (1% of 300 = 3).
  2. Multiply by the percent: 35% of 300 = 35 × 3 = 105.
  3. Percent of 50: half of the percent (40% of 50 = 20).
  4. Missing percent (?% of 200 = 60): divide by 1% — 60 ÷ 2 = 30, so 30%.

Use it for: Quick mental maths, marks out of 200, and money sums with ₹100, ₹500 and ₹1000 notes.
