About this word search

“Occupations Puzzle 1” is a free online word search for kids about occupations. 10 words are hidden in a 12 × 12 grid of letters — across, down and sometimes diagonally. Hint: Find the occupations! It plays in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, takes about 5–10 minutes and suits ages 5–12.

How to play

1. Pick a word from the list and say it aloud.
2. Look for its first letter in the grid, then check the letters around it for the second letter.
3. Follow that direction — drag across the word, or tap its first and last letter.
4. Found words are marked; keep going until the list is done.

What your child practises

• Spelling and recognising whole words about occupations.
• Visual scanning and attention to detail — the same skill used when reading quickly.
