Robots use two common kinds of motor. A DC motor spins round and round — perfect for wheels; it spins faster with more voltage and the other way if its two wires are swapped. A servo motor turns to an exact angle (usually 0° to 180°) and holds it — perfect for robot arms, grippers and steering. A servo is told an angle; if it is at 30° and is set to 120°, it turns 120 − 30 = 90°.
