About this word scramble

“Astronomy II” is a free word scramble game for kids aged about 8–14 in the Astronomy set. It has 10 clues about planets, stars, space missions and the sky. Each answer is shown with its letters mixed up — read the clue, work out the word and put the letters back in the right order. It plays in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download, and one round takes about 5 minutes.

How to play

  1. Read the clue at the top of the game.
  2. Look at the jumbled letters and think of a word that fits the clue and uses every letter.
  3. Type or tap the letters in order to spell the answer, then check it.
  4. Stuck? Use the hint, or look at the first letter and the number of letters below.

What your child learns

  • Facts and words about planets, stars, space missions and the sky.
  • Spelling — every letter has to be in the right place.
  • Thinking from a clue to an answer (recall, not just recognition).

Tip: Look for the planet or constellation in the night sky or in a picture after you solve it.
