What apps are: Part 1 test — App development for students

The Part 1 test mixes questions from lessons 1 to 7: apps vs websites, the parts of an app, users and their needs, the idea → plan → build → test → release order, good ideas that solve a problem, must-have features and input → processing → output. Pass it to earn the Part 1 badge.

Developer's tip

Name the topic — “find which lesson the question comes from, then use its rule”

  1. First decide which topic the question is about.
  2. Use that lesson’s rule: count, order, match or work it out.
  3. Read every line of a screen or a code snippet before you answer.

Use it for: Revising Part 1 before moving on to designing apps.

Worked example: 🧩 How many inputs (text boxes, switches and sliders) does this screen have?
[title] Edit Profile
[button] Next
[slider] Volume
[text box] City
[text box] Name → 3

  1. Inputs are text boxes, switches and sliders: Volume, City and Name.
  2. Next is a button and the title is not an input.

Check: 5 parts − 1 title − 1 button = 3 inputs ✓
