Maths Olympiad mock test — Maths Olympiad practice
The mock test mixes questions from lessons 8 to 19, just like a real maths Olympiad paper. Before you calculate, decide what kind of question it is — then use the method from that lesson and check your answer against the options.
✓ You passed this topic’s test.
How to solve it
Spot the topic first — “decide which lesson a question belongs to, then use that method”
Read the question and name the topic: HCF/LCM, fractions, calendar, ratio, percentage, interest, average, equation or number theory.
Use that lesson’s method; write small working on rough paper.
Look at the options: rule out answers that are too big, too small or the wrong kind.
Check your answer by working backwards when you can.
Use it for: Practice before a maths Olympiad, school test or any competition paper.
Worked example: ₹360 is shared between two friends in the ratio 4 : 5. How much is the bigger share? ₹200
This is a ratio question. Total parts: 4 + 5 = 9.
One part: ₹360 ÷ 9 = ₹40.
The bigger share is 5 parts: 5 × ₹40 = ₹200.
Check: The smaller share is 4 × ₹40 = ₹160, and ₹160 + ₹200 = ₹360 ✓
