What is maths Olympiad preparation?

A maths Olympiad is a competition paper that goes beyond the school textbook: most questions are multiple choice, and the wrong options are built from the mistakes children usually make, so you have to reason, not just calculate. This course prepares children from Class 2 to Class 10 (ages 7–16; keen Class 1 children can start with Part 1) topic by topic — number sense, patterns, time, money and shapes for the younger classes; HCF and LCM, fractions, calendars, ratio and logical reasoning in the middle; percentages, interest, averages, equations and number theory at the top; then a problem-solving part for Class 5–10 with angles, counting, probability, statistics, coordinates, sequences, algebra, primes and Venn diagrams — and two mixed mock tests. Every question is freshly generated, has exactly one correct answer, and comes with a “Show me how” explanation.

Maths Olympiad Preparation questions

How do I prepare my child for a maths Olympiad?

Work topic by topic rather than only doing full papers. Learn the method for each kind of question, practise it with fresh questions until it is easy, then take mixed mock tests. Ten to fifteen minutes a day works better than one long session before the exam.

Maths Olympiad ki taiyari kaise karein? (Hindi)

From what age or class can a child start maths Olympiad practice?

Most children start in Class 1 or 2 (age 6–7) with number sense, patterns, money and time. Part 1 of this course suits Class 2–4, Part 2 suits Class 5–7, and Part 3 suits Class 8–10 (ages 13–16). Part 4 is problem solving for Class 5–10 (ages 10–16).

Are maths Olympiad questions different from school maths?

They use the same topics but ask you to think more: most questions are multiple choice, need two or three steps, and the wrong options come from the usual mistakes — like adding the bottoms of fractions or dividing by the selling price. Practising these question types is the best preparation.

Which topics come in a maths Olympiad paper?

For Class 2–4: place value, patterns, word problems, money, time, shapes and reasoning. For Class 5–7: factors and multiples, fractions, decimals, area, calendars and ratio. For Class 8–10: percentages, interest, averages, algebra and number theory, along with logical reasoning at every level. Problem-solving topics — angles, counting, the pigeonhole principle, probability, statistics, coordinates, APs, primes and Venn diagrams — appear from Class 5 onwards.

Is there a free maths Olympiad mock test or sample paper?

Yes. Lessons 20 and 33 are 20-question mixed mock tests you can take again and again — the questions change every time. Every lesson also has printable worksheets with answers.

How do I get a badge or certificate?

Sign in and score 16 or more out of 20 in a lesson’s test to earn its badge. Pass every lesson in a part — Part 1 is lessons 1–7, Part 2 is 8–14, Part 3 is 15–20 and Part 4 is 21–33 — to get that part’s certificate, with a code anyone can check.
