Perimeter is the distance around a shape and area is the space inside it. A regular shape has all sides equal, so its perimeter is the number of sides × the side. Fencing is paid by the metre (perimeter), painting and tiling by the square metre (area). For a shape with a corner cut out, find the whole area and take away the cut-out part.
