KCET Rank Predictor: Combined Score (50:50) Calculator

KCET engineering ranks are decided by a combined score: half from your CET Physics, Chemistry and Maths marks and half from your 2nd PUC / Class 12 PCM marks. This calculator works out that score exactly, checks the board eligibility and shows the tie-break order. It does not guess a rank number — there is no trustworthy public data for that, and we explain why below.

KCET marks (each subject out of 60)
2nd PUC / Class 12 marks (theory + practical)

Exact KEA arithmetic · not an official result

Combined merit score
81.667 / 100
CET half (50 %)
37.5
Board half (50 %)
44.167
Board PCM %
88.33%

✓ Board PCM 88.33% meets the 45% eligibility for an engineering rank.

Rank: not estimated. No trustworthy marks-to-rank data exists for KCET — see “Why we show no rank” below. Your rank is on KEA’s official result.

Step-by-step solution
  1. CET PCM = 42 + 45 + 48 = 135 out of 180
  2. CET half = 50 × 135 ÷ 180 = 37.5
  3. Board PCM = 88 + 85 + 92 = 265 out of 300 = 88.3333%
  4. Board half = 88.3333 ÷ 2 = 44.1667
  5. Combined merit score = 37.5 + 44.1667 = 81.6667 out of 100
  6. Eligibility: board PCM 88.33% ≥ 45% → eligible

If two students have the same score

  1. Higher combined merit score (50 % CET PCM + 50 % board PCM)
  2. Higher marks in CET Mathematics — yours: 48/60
  3. Higher marks in CET Physics — yours: 42/60
  4. Higher marks in the qualifying exam (2nd PUC / 12th) subjects
  5. Age — the elder candidate first
  6. Draw of lots

How to use the KCET rank predictor – combined score calculator

  1. Enter your KCET Physics, Chemistry and Maths marks (each out of 60).
  2. Enter your 2nd PUC / Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths marks and their maximum marks (theory + practical).
  3. Read the combined merit score out of 100 and the eligibility check. Tick “reserved category” for the 40% eligibility rule.

Formulas

Combined merit score50 × (CET P + C + M) ÷ 180 + 50 × (board PCM %) ÷ 100
KEA: CET PCM and qualifying-exam PCM “in equal proportions”.
Board PCM %(Physics + Chemistry + Maths) ÷ 300 × 100
A subject not out of 100 is scaled to 100 first — our assumption; KEA describes no normalisation across boards.
EligibilityBoard PCM ≥ 45% (40% for reserved categories)
There is no minimum CET mark for engineering.

Solved examples

Example 1: CET 42 + 45 + 48, board 88 + 85 + 92 (out of 100 each)

  • CET half = 50 × 135 ÷ 180 = 37.5
  • Board PCM = 265 ÷ 300 = 88.333%
  • Board half = 44.167
  • 37.5 + 44.167

Answer: 81.667 out of 100

Example 2: Full marks in CET (180) and 75% in board PCM

  • CET half = 50
  • Board half = 37.5

Answer: 87.5 out of 100

Why we show no rank

KEA does not publish a table of scores against ranks. The tables you find online are not reliable: three big sites print one identical table built on CET marks alone — ignoring the board half of the score — with rows that overlap each other, and another site assumes 88–92% board marks. At 65–70 CET marks those tables differ by more than ten times. A rank from them would look precise but could be badly wrong, so we give you only what can be calculated exactly.

What to do instead: keep your combined score from this page, and check your rank on KEA’s official result (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in). For colleges, KEA publishes cut-off ranks for each round of counselling — compare your official rank with those.

Board marks you must submit

Candidates from boards other than Karnataka’s, and repeaters, must enter their Class 12 marks on the KEA portal. Without them no rank is given; a later “spot rank” may be issued. For KSEAB improvement exams, KEA says the announced results of those exams will be considered.

Other courses

This calculator is for engineering (PCM, 50:50). Farm Science uses PCMB 50:50 and BNYS uses PCB 50:50; B.V.Sc and B.Sc Nursing use CET PCB only; B-Pharm / Pharm-D use CET only (the better of PCB or PCM); B.Arch uses NATA; medical and dental seats use NEET.

Frequently asked questions

How is the KCET rank calculated?

For engineering, KEA ranks candidates by a combined score with equal weight to CET PCM marks (out of 180) and 2nd PUC / Class 12 PCM marks: score = 50 × CET ÷ 180 + 50 × board PCM % ÷ 100.

Can you predict my KCET rank from marks?

Not reliably. KEA publishes no score-to-rank data, and the tables online ignore board marks and differ by more than 10 times. Use the exact score here and check your rank on KEA’s official result.

What is the tie-breaker in KCET?

Higher combined score, then higher CET Maths marks, then CET Physics marks, then qualifying-exam subject marks, then the elder candidate, then a draw of lots.

What board percentage do I need for a KCET engineering rank?

45% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths together (40% for reserved categories). There is no minimum CET mark.

Is there negative marking in KCET?

No. Each subject has 60 one-mark questions in 80 minutes, with no negative marking.
