NEET Rank Predictor: Marks vs Rank
Enter your NEET UG marks (out of 720) and pick the year to compare with. The rank band is drawn through NTA’s official counts — for 2026, 650+ marks: 1,492 candidates; 600+: 10,160; 500+: 90,780 — so it can never contradict them. Between those points it is an estimate, and below 450 marks it is a rough one.
Score from the answer key or your result: +4 correct, −1 wrong
2026: The 3 May 2026 exam was cancelled by NTA (with Government of India approval) after leak inputs; the re-exam was held on 21 June 2026 and results came on 16 July 2026. These figures are from the re-exam.

Solved examples
Example 1: 600 marks, 2026
- Official: 10,160 candidates scored 600 or more
- Rank cannot be worse than 10,160 or better than 1,493 (650+ = 1,492)
Answer: AIR about 9,700 – 10,160
Example 2: 650 marks, 2026
- Official: 1,492 candidates scored 650 or more
- 690+ = 138, so rank > 138
Answer: AIR about 1,400 – 1,492
Example 3: 99 percentile, 2026
- (100 − 99) × 19,99,895 ÷ 100 = 19,999
- ±1%
Answer: AIR about 19,798 – 20,200
Why the year matters so much
The rank for the same marks swings hugely from year to year. 600 marks meant a rank of roughly 20,000 in 2023 and roughly 77,000 in 2024 (published estimates), about 1,300 in 2025 and at most 10,160 in 2026 (official) — a swing of more than 50 times. So the calculator always shows the year it uses, and next year can be different again.
How the band is built
NTA publishes a few exact points each year: how many candidates scored at or above certain marks. The tool draws a smooth curve through those points (on a log scale, which fits how ranks grow), adds publisher figures only where they agree with NTA, and widens the result into a band. Right on an official point the band is narrow; half-way between points, and especially below 450 marks where coaching tables differ 2–4 times, it is wide.
For 2025 NTA gave only two points (686 = AIR 1; 144 marks → 11,01,151), so the 2025 curve leans on publisher tables. For 2024 there are only three points and the result was re-revised, so we only convert a percentile for 2024.
Ties and qualifying
NEET ranks are based on raw marks; the percentile is used only for qualifying (50th percentile for UR/EWS, 45th for UR-PwBD, 40th for SC/ST/OBC). Ties are broken by Biology marks, then Chemistry, then Physics, then fewer wrong answers per right answer, and finally a random process supervised by an expert committee — there is no age criterion.
Frequently asked questions
What rank is 600 marks in NEET 2026?
NTA’s official data says 10,160 candidates scored 600 or more in the 2026 re-exam, so 600 marks means a rank of at most 10,160 — about 9,700 to 10,160.
What rank is 500 marks in NEET 2026?
90,780 candidates scored 500 or more in 2026 (official), so about 88,000 to 90,780. In 2025, 500 marks was roughly 26,000 to 64,000 — the year matters.
How many students appeared in NEET 2026?
19,99,895 appeared in the re-exam of 21 June 2026, and 11,21,185 qualified (UR/EWS cut-off 213 marks).
Why is my rank band so wide below 450 marks?
NTA publishes few official points there and coaching tables disagree by 2–4 times, so the estimate is low confidence. Your official rank is on your NTA scorecard.
Why can’t I estimate from 2024 marks?
The 2024 result was re-revised after grace marks were withdrawn, a retest and a Supreme Court-ordered key change, and only three official marks points exist. Use your 2024 percentile instead.
