MHT CET Rank Predictor: Percentile to State Merit Number

Enter your MHT CET total percentile (PCM) to see the state merit number band you are likely to get in CAP, read from the official 2025 and 2026 final merit lists. Only know your marks? Switch to marks for a much wider estimate. The CET Cell publishes percentiles, not ranks — the number that matters for engineering admission is the CAP state merit number.

From your CET Cell score card — the total percentile, e.g. 96.5432109

Estimate · 2026 data · confidence: high (official list)

State merit number (CAP), 2026
19,000 – 24,000
Same percentile on the 2025 list
15,000 – 20,000

About 5% of candidates in your session scored more than you (that is what the percentile means).

Merit number among the 2,29,563 Maharashtra-state PCM candidates who registered for CAP in 2026 — not a rank among everyone who took the test (PCM attempt 1: 4,54,069 appeared (26 scored 100 percentile); attempt 2: 2,85,121 (12)).

Step-by-step solution
  1. 2026 final merit list (Maharashtra-state PCM CAP candidates, 2,29,563 names):
  2. percentile ≥ 95 → merit no. 21,217 (official list)
  3. Your percentile 95 is on a list anchor
  4. Band ±10% → 19,000 – 24,000 (rounded outward)
  5. 2025 list for comparison: 15,000 – 20,000

How to use the MHT CET rank predictor

  1. Choose “My percentile” and type the total percentile from your score card (or choose “My marks” for a rough estimate).
  2. Pick the merit list year to compare with: 2026 (latest) or 2025.
  3. Read the state merit number band. It is a range, not your exact merit number.

Solved examples

Example 1: 95 percentile, 2026 list

  • Official 2026 list: percentile ≥ 95 → merit no. 21,217
  • ±10% band

Answer: about 19,000 – 24,000

Example 2: 90 percentile, 2025 list

  • Official 2025 list: percentile ≥ 90 → merit no. 34,028
  • ±10% band

Answer: about 30,000 – 38,000

Example 3: 120 marks out of 200, 2026 list

  • Published tables: ~92.5 to ~97.1 percentile
  • Merit no. at 97.1 (best) and 92.5 (worst) on the 2026 list

Answer: a wide band — check your percentile when results are out

Why a “merit number”, not a rank

The State CET Cell declares a percentile for each candidate, not a rank. The rank-like number used in engineering admissions is the state merit number on the DTE / CAP merit list, and that list contains only Maharashtra-state candidates who registered for CAP — roughly half of everyone who took the test. So this tool shows where you would sit on that list, not your position among all test-takers.

The 2026 list gives higher merit numbers at every percentile than 2025 (for example 95 percentile: 21,217 in 2026 vs 17,306 in 2025), because from 2026 your better percentile of two attempts counts and more candidates registered. Next year can differ again, so treat the band as a guide.

Ties and the CAP merit order

When percentiles are equal, CAP breaks the tie in this order: total percentile, then the CET Maths, Physics and Chemistry percentiles, then the qualifying-exam PCM percentage, HSC Maths %, HSC Physics % and HSC aggregate %. That is one reason two students with the same percentile get different merit numbers.

Marks to percentile is only a rough guide

Percentiles are calculated inside each session, so the same marks give different percentiles on different days. The CET Cell does not publish a marks-to-percentile table; the published tables we compared disagree by about 6 points at 120 marks and 10 points at 100 marks. That is why the marks mode shows a wide band and stops below 60 marks.

What this covers

PCM (engineering) only — the merit lists used are the Maharashtra-state PCM final merit lists of 2025 and 2026. PCB (pharmacy, agriculture) lists were not used, so PCB percentiles are not supported here.

Frequently asked questions

What rank will I get with 95 percentile in MHT CET?

On the official 2026 final merit list, about 21,217 Maharashtra CAP candidates had 95 percentile or more (17,306 in 2025). So 95 percentile means a state merit number of roughly 19,000 to 24,000 — this is an estimate, not an official rank.

Does the CET Cell give a rank?

No. The CET Cell declares percentiles. A state merit number is given on the CAP merit list, and only to candidates who register for CAP.

How many marks are needed for 99 percentile in MHT CET?

There is no official table. Published tables put 99 percentile somewhere around 140–160 marks out of 200, depending on the session.

Which attempt counts in MHT CET 2026?

From 2026 there are two attempts, and the better of the two total percentile scores counts.

Is the merit number the same as the all-India rank?

No. It is your position among Maharashtra-state candidates who registered for CAP, after the CAP tie-break rules.
