Mouse basics — Computer worksheet

A mouse has a left button, a right button and a small wheel. We hold it gently with the index finger on the left button and the middle finger on the right button. One press is a click, two quick presses are a double-click, pressing the right button is a right-click, holding the button while moving is a drag, and rolling the wheel is a scroll.

Remember

Count the presses — “one press is a click, two quick presses are a double-click”

  1. Click = press the left button once; double-click = press it twice quickly.
  2. Right-click = press the right button; drag = hold the button down and move the mouse.
  3. Scroll = roll the middle wheel. Index finger on the left button, middle finger on the right button.

Use it for: Class 1 computer-lab practice, first mouse games and learning to open things on the screen.

Worked example: 🖱️ What do we call it when we press left twice quickly? → double-click

  1. Two quick presses of the left button.
  2. Double means two — it is a double-click.

Check: Press-press, quickly: double-click ✓
