Mouse actions — Computer worksheet

Each mouse action does a different job. A click selects an icon or presses a button on the screen, a double-click opens a folder or file, a drag moves an icon or window, a right-click shows a short menu, and scrolling moves up and down a long page. The pointer changes shape too: a pointing hand means a link, a spinning circle means the computer is busy.

Remember

Pick the action for the job — “select, open, move, menu or scroll?”

  1. Click = select; double-click = open; drag = move.
  2. Right-click = a short menu with more options; scroll = move up or down a long page.
  3. Pointer shapes: arrow = ready, pointing hand = a link, spinning circle = busy, tall I-line = you can type here.

Use it for: Class 2 computer-lab practice, opening and moving icons and playing drag-and-drop games.

Worked example: 🖱️ Which mouse action do we use to open a folder? → double-click

  1. A single click only selects the folder.
  2. Two quick clicks open it — a double-click.

Check: Click selects, double-click opens ✓
