Bottle Cap Mosaic Art for Kids (Best Out of Waste)
Collect plastic bottle caps and turn them into a colourful mosaic picture on cardboard — a best out of waste art project for kids that teaches sorting and patterns.
What your bottle-cap mosaic can look like
Materials 30–60 plastic bottle caps, washed and dried 1 piece of cardboard (a box side) Thick white glue Pencil Poster paint for the background (optional)
Steps
Collect caps for a week or two. Wash and dry them. Sort the caps by colour and count each pile. Draw a big, simple picture on the cardboard: a flower, a fish, a sun or the first letter of your name. Lay the caps on the drawing without glue to test your design and colours. Glue the caps one at a time, flat side down, starting from the middle. Fill the background with caps of one colour, or paint it. Leave it flat to dry overnight before you hang it up.
⚠️ Safety note Bottle caps are small enough to swallow. Keep them away from babies and toddlers and stay with young children while they work.
