Recycled Robot Model for Kids (Best Out of Waste)
Build a robot model from empty boxes, bottle caps and straws — a best out of waste project for kids that sparks imagination and an interest in engineering.
What your recycled box robot can look like
Materials 1 medium box (cereal or shoe box) for the body 1 small box (toothpaste or soap box) for the head Bottle caps for eyes and buttons 4 straws or paper tubes for arms and legs Old paper or kitchen foil to cover the boxes Glue and sticky tape Sketch pens
Tools Child-safe scissors An adult for any cardboard cutting
Steps
Cover both boxes with paper or foil and tape the edges. Glue the small box on top of the big box as the head. Glue two bottle caps on the head as eyes and draw a mouth. Tape two straws or paper tubes to the sides as arms, and two at the bottom as legs. Glue more caps on the body as buttons and draw a control panel. Add an antenna: a straw with a small paper ball on top. Give your robot a name and write what job it does.
⚠️ Safety note Use only empty, clean boxes (never a matchbox with matches inside). An adult cuts any thick cardboard.
