Marks tell you how much time a question deserves. Work out minutes per mark: writing time ÷ total marks (a 60-mark paper with 180 minutes gives 3 minutes a mark). Then time for a question = marks × minutes per mark. Take off a few minutes for reading the paper first and for checking at the end. When a question’s time is up, move on and come back later.
