Number recall — a number memory game

A number appears for a few seconds, then hides. Type it back from memory — or backwards, for a real challenge. The numbers grow from 3 to 12 digits.

How to play Number Recall

  1. Choose forwards (type it as you saw it) or backwards (last digit first).
  2. Look at the number while it is on screen. It hides when the bar runs out.
  3. Type the digits on the number pad or keyboard. 10 numbers a round: 3 digits, then 4, 5… up to 12.
  4. Remember 8 or more of the 10 for the Number Vault badge.

Number Recall — questions

What is a digit span game?

Digit span means how many digits you can hold in your mind at once. Here the numbers get longer each round, so you find your own span and try to stretch it.

Why is backwards harder?

To say a number backwards you must keep it in memory and work with it at the same time. That is called working memory — great practice for mental maths.

How can I remember long numbers?

Split them into groups of three, like a phone number: 482 917 35. The game shows the groups to help you.

Is this a test of intelligence?

No. It is a fun memory practice game. Scores go up with practice, sleep and focus — every child can improve.
