What goes on a student résumé — Interview skills for students

A résumé is a one-page summary of you. Students with no work experience still have plenty to show: education and marks, skills (typing, spreadsheets, languages), projects you made, clubs and teams, awards and volunteer work. Leave out private details (bank details, Aadhaar number, passwords), party selfies, long life stories and anything untrue — every line can be asked about in the interview.

Tip

Show, don’t pad — “include what shows your learning and work; leave out private or untrue things”

  1. Include: contact details (mobile, email, city), education and marks, skills, projects, activities and clubs, awards, languages, volunteer work.
  2. Leave out: bank details, your Aadhaar number, passwords, party selfies, other people’s marks, long life stories and anything made up.
  3. One page, one plain font; be ready to explain every line with a short example.

Use it for: Internship and part-time job applications, scholarship forms, college applications and competitions that ask for a CV.

Worked example: 📄 Include it on a student résumé or leave it out: your Aadhaar number? → leave it out

  1. An ID number is private and not needed to judge your skills; share it only when an official form asks.
  2. So leave it out.

Check: Try it: list what you would put under education, skills, projects and activities on your own résumé ✓
