Communication skills are how you listen, ask, speak and write so that other people understand you and want to work with you. Interview skills use them under pressure: in a college admission interview, a scholarship interview or your first job or internship interview. This free course has three parts. Part 1, communication skills for students: active listening, asking clear questions, phone and email manners, choosing a formal or informal tone, non-verbal signals and giving and taking feedback. Part 2, interview tips for students: the types of interviews, how to prepare, common interview questions and answers for freshers (and what the interviewer really wants to know), the STAR method, honest strengths and weaknesses answers, questions to ask at the end, dress, punctuality and online interview etiquette. Part 3, résumé and workplace basics: what goes on a student résumé, the order of sections, action verbs, mistakes to avoid, the application email, the thank-you note, workplace manners and group discussion (GD) basics. The quizzes check that you know the right choices; every lesson also gives you a short task to try for real. When you are ready to practise a full mock interview or polish your résumé, the next step is TalentJR Career Lab at https://career.talentjr.in/ — it has an AI interview coach and résumé tools.
40 questions per sheet with an answer key — print, save as PDF or solve online.

Keep it to 1–2 minutes and make it relevant: what you study now, one or two strengths with a short proof (a project, a club, a job you did), and why this course, scholarship or role fits your goal. Do not recite your family details or your whole life story. Practise it aloud with a timer until it sounds natural, not memorised.
STAR is a simple shape for “Tell me about a time…” answers: Situation (where and when), Task (what you had to do), Action (what you yourself did — the longest part) and Result (what changed, ideally with a number). Lesson 12 has practice sentences to label and a task to write your own STAR story.
Research the place, practise answers aloud in a mock interview, pack one folder with your ID, marksheets and résumé copies, check the route, sleep well, dress neatly and reach 10–15 minutes early. In the room: sit upright, listen fully, answer the real question with an example, be honest when you don’t know, ask one or two questions at the end and thank the panel.
Practise the small things every day: listen without your phone and sum up what you heard, ask one clear question at a time, write emails with a subject, greeting and sign-off, choose a formal tone with teachers and offices, and give feedback with one good point and one tip. Part 1 of this course covers each of these with practice questions and a real task.
Ages 14 to 18 and above — roughly Class 9 to college first year. Part 1 (communication) suits everyone from Class 9; Parts 2 and 3 (interviews, résumé and workplace) are most useful from Class 11 onwards, before admission, scholarship, internship and first-job interviews.
After these lessons, try TalentJR Career Lab at https://career.talentjr.in/ — it has an AI interview coach for mock interviews and tools to build and improve your résumé. This course teaches the skills; Career Lab lets you rehearse them.
