Money: rupees — Maths worksheet

Shopping uses adding and subtracting. To find what you spend, add the prices. To find the change, take the cost away from the note you paid with. To count money, multiply each kind of note or coin by how many there are, then add.

The method

Add to pay, subtract for change — “add the prices for the total; change = money paid − cost”

  1. Total spent = add the prices.
  2. Change = money paid − cost.
  3. Money in notes and coins = number × value for each kind, then add.

Use it for: Buying things with family, piggy-bank counting, and the money chapter of Class 2 maths.

Worked example: Ananya buys a toy car for ₹35 and pays with a ₹50 note. How many rupees of change does Ananya get? → 15

  1. Change = money paid − cost.
  2. 50 − 35 = 15.

Check: 35 + 15 = 50, the note paid ✓
