Time: morning, night and days — Nursery and KG maths

Time starts with the order of a day. Your child decides whether things happen in the morning, afternoon, evening or night, puts daily jobs in order, says the days of the week before and after, and reads o’clock times on a clock.

How to teach it

Think of your own day — “what you do first, then next — the day goes morning, afternoon, evening, night”

  1. The day goes in order: morning, afternoon, evening, night.
  2. Think of what you do: breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, sleep at night.
  3. The days of the week go Monday, Tuesday … Sunday, then Monday again.

Use it for: Talking about daily routines, school days and holidays, and getting ready to read a clock in Class 1.

Worked example: 🌙 When do you see the moon and the stars? → night

  1. Think about your own day: morning, afternoon, evening and night.
  2. This happens in the night.

Check: The moon and the stars come out at night ✓
