Cubes near 100 and 1000 — Vedic maths trick

The trick

Yavadunam — “whatever the deficiency”

1. Left part: the number + twice the difference.
2. Middle part: 3 × the difference squared.
3. Right part: the difference cubed.
4. Each right-hand part has as many digits as the base has zeros — carry the extra, borrow if a part is negative.

Use it for: Cubes of 91 to 109 and 980 to 1020.

Worked example: 103³ = 1092727
